To ask the First Minister what discussions the Scottish Government has had with Glasgow City Council concerning the future of the site of the Red Road flats following the demolition of the existing buildings.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it considers it appropriate for the National Museum of Scotland to end the payment of the weekend working allowance to retail and visitor services staff employed since January 2011 without discussion or consultation with the staff's trades unions.

National Museums Scotland (NMS) advise that the weekend working allowance was not withdrawn from any staff at the National Museums. I am also advised that NMS discussed weekend working and a number of other issues with trade unions in 2010 in the context of the challenging funding outlook across the public sector. This was a decision for the body itself taking into account the affordability of the overall paybill and general practice in the culture and tourism sector across the UK.

To ask the Scottish Government what involvement it has had in discussions with Pinewood Studios regarding the possibility of establishing a film studio in Scotland.

On 28 May 2013, I wrote to Lord Grade, Chair of Pinewood Shepperton plc’s Board indicating the willingness of the Scottish Government and its agencies to assist in any way they could with Pinewood’s explorations of opportunities in Scotland.

Pinewood subsequently came to Glasgow on 30 May 2013, when they visited Film City Glasgow and met officials from Scottish Enterprise and were briefed on specific sites in relation to their operational requirements.

To ask the Scottish Government what plans it has to establish a Scottish film fund.

Creative Scotland is the Lottery distributor for the screen sector and oversees the film and television fund. The first three years of Creative Scotland (2010 -11, 2011-12 and 2012-13) saw it give an average of £6.2 million in support annually to the sector, compared to an average of £3 million annually in the three previous years. (Creative Scotland replaced Scottish Screen on 1 July 2010, at the beginning of Q2, 2010-11.)

To ask the Scottish Government what progress has been made on establishing a film studio in Scotland.

Last year Scotland secured its largest ever inward investment in screen production through the Sony Pictures series for Starz, Outlander, for which a 140,000 square foot television production studio has been developed in Cumbernauld, with public sector assistance.

In addition, Scottish Enterprise has commissioned a study into delivery options for screen production space in Scotland. This will be published shortly, giving detailed analysis of options, including locations and potential business models, taking into account changing market conditions, such as the introduction last year of a fiscal incentive for high-end television production.

To ask the Scottish Government how many times it has met officials from (a) Scottish Enterprise and (b) Creative Scotland in the last two years to discuss the establishment of a film studio in Scotland.
