Ministers’ key priorityis to create a secure future for the Gaelic language in Scotland. In order to achieve this urgent attention needs to befocused on the growth, the usage and the status of the Gaelic language. Furtherdetail on how to make progress in these areas is contained in Bòrd na Gàidhlig’sNational Plan for Gaelic.

Yes, we do intendto continue the major events strategy to build on Scotland’s reputation as a world-class events destination. The vision was, and stillis, to become one of the world’s foremost events destinations by 2015. Therefore,I would like to assure you that I intend to see this is taken forward as a priority.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether it is aware that many people in Maryhill and in other parts of Glasgow are unable to visit friends and family or engage in social activity because there are no bus services in their area after 6 pm and at weekends.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will consider the re-regulation of buses.
Answer
There are no plansfor re-regulation of the buses. We are currently working with bus operators, transportauthorities and other key industry stakeholders to ensure the effective operationof the current bus regime.
