ESEP Ltd has a target of 10 working days to provide correct claims to the Scottish Government for payment. An extension to ESEP''s contract has recently been agreed which will ensure additional resources are put in place to help ensure claims are processed in a timely manner and ESEP will continue to work closely with all voluntary organisations to ensure correct claims are processed and passed to the Scottish Government.

Cremation is clearly irreversible and this additional check was introduced in the early 20th century as a safeguard against disposal by cremation until concerns or suspicion around the [cause of] death had been fully addressed.

We are currently consulting on proposals for new arrangements with regard to death certification, with a view to improving the level of clinical governance in this area.

Two forms (B & C) must be completed by separate doctors. These additional procedures are required to enable cremation to proceed. Each doctor is paid £71 for this function as the signing of the forms is not regarded as an NHS activity. The content of these forms is prescribed in legislation.

The Scottish Government has committed to providing funding totalling £326,000 to the Scottish Driving Assessment Centre to contribute to staffing costs and the lease of an adapted vehicle. Any decision to increase funding would be taken as part of the next spending review.

Accurate and comparable figures on the vaccination programme will not be available until after 31 March 2010 when phase one and two of the programme are complete. Estimated uptake for phase one priority groups broken down by NHS board, are shown in the table below. It should be noted that there is limited representation in some NHS board areas due to the software systems in place, therefore these estimated figures may be an under representation of uptake in some board areas. Uptake rates for the second phase of the vaccination programme will not be available until after 31 March.

The Scottish Government has committed to providing a total of £326,000 in grant payments to the Scottish Driving Assessment Service. These contribute towards staffing costs and help meet the cost of an adapted vehicle which is used by the service to provide training. This commitment extends until 2013-14.

Obtaining better data on neurological conditions in order to improve service planning and quality is central to the Implementation and Improvement Support Plan which NHS Quality Improvement Scotland has published to accompany its clinical standards for neurological health services.

Data Sharing Partnerships, based in each of the 14 health board geographies, were established in 2006, to drive implementation locally. The DSPs worked, both with each other and with Scottish Government policy teams and the eCare Programme Team, to encourage the use of eCare to effectively support policy and business requirements.
