The Community Health Index (CHI) has been in place since the 1970s. We are in the process of modernising and upgrading the system that runs the CHI, which acts as the master patient index for the whole of the NHS. As such, the new CHI system requires careful implementation to safely and seamlessly join up hundreds of data flows. It is now in limited use for some elements of health data. The new system is expected to be fully operational in Autumn 2023.

The purpose of the desktop review was to assess which properties should be investigated for the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC). NHS Scotland Assure is preparing a paper on options to proceed with discovery surveys to assess which NHS Scotland properties contain RAAC. Completion of the discovery surveys will provide an accurate assessment of how many, and which, properties contain RAAC.

A range of digital mental health therapies are available to support people to self-refer. These include treatments for: Insomnia, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Stress, Resilience, Space from COVID, Supporting An Anxious Child, Supporting An Anxious Teen.

These treatments are open to anyone through self-referral across all areas of Scotland. In addition to this we have about 12 treatments open to self-referral for Health and Care staff, this including depression, a range of anxiety disorders. Table 1 provides more detail on what is currently available.

The recently released Data Strategy for Health and Social Care details a set of ethical principles for the use of data across our health and care sector. These principles are applicable to the use of AI as well as the broader use of data.

Furthermore, the Data Strategy sets out our intent to work towards the safe adoption of AI tools, working to international best practice. We have also committed to developing a policy framework for adoption of AI across health and by Spring 2024.

Yes. The Transforming Local Systems programme concluded in May 2023. Work continues to ensure the key benefits of the programme can now be realised across health and care with Healthcare Improvement Scotland now taking ownership of the service design resources. While it is still being developed, the online resource is available now for organisations to learn from the programme’s experience - Designing person-centred services for housing, social care and health - Designing person-centred services for housing, social care and health v.6 (ihub.scot)

The final evaluation report for Transforming Local Systems is going through final governance sign off though we expect to publish at www.tec.scot before the end of June.

In response to part (a), the Scottish Government will update Parliament on the review of NHS Scotland properties suspected to contain reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) when appropriate.

In response to part (b), the Scottish Government will liaise with NHS Scotland Assure and relevant Health Boards affected by RAAC about communications to members of the public.

Business continuity plans cannot be prepared until completion of the discovery surveys of NHS Scotland properties suspected to contain reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete. The outcomes of the discovery surveys will be used to inform business continuity plans by any affected Health Boards.

The Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and our partners have an ongoing commitment to developing UK and international collaborations. This includes active participation in European and International networks as well as hosting of inward study visits to Scotland and outward visits to international partners. Inward visits include from the Netherlands, Denmark, Andalucia, Wales, World Health Organisation (Georgia and Macedonia) and Spain.

Our primary focus on improving telecare services is in supporting the migration of existing analogue devices to new, more sophisticated, digital devices to ensure telecare services remain fit for purpose following the UK-wide switch-over of telephone lines to a digital infrastructure.

Local Government Digital Office (LGDO) has been commissioned by Scottish Government to lead on this work and are currently taking forward a tender to develop a national digital telecare Alarm Receiving Centre solution that will support a more joined up service across HSCPs (Health and Social Care Partnership) and housing providers offering telecare in Scotland.

The KIND learning network channel continues to grow and currently has 830 members. Weekly community meetup sessions are provided. Learning priorities are guided from learner requirement insights and the focus has been building advanced analytic capacity across the sector providing learning resources for a range of analytic platforms.
