Experimental Traffic Regulation Orders (ETROs)

At its meeting on 16 November, the Committee considered the following instrument:

• Traffic Regulation Orders (Procedure) (Miscellaneous Amendments) (Scotland) Regulations 2021

The Committee agreed it did not wish to make any further recommendations in relation to the regulations. However, there was further discussion about the processes involved in putting ETROs in place and allowing members of the public to put forward views on them.

The Committee noted that the purpose of the instrument is to streamline the ETRO process and make them more fit for purpose. We agreed to request more information on how the Scottish Government intends to monitor and evaluate the use of the streamlined process by transport authorities.

The Committee would appreciate a response by 22 December.
