PE1865/C - Suspend all surgical mesh and fixation devices

I am a 64-year-old female who served in the NHS as a nurse for almost 35 years. Mesh complications have ruined my life and career. Constant pain, fibromyalgia, numbness, faecal and urinary incontinence. The need to wear incontinence pads 24 hours a day. I am also required to have Botox to my bladder every 3 months.

I have both a vaginal and abdominal mesh with lots of adhesions from surgeries. I never consented to the abdominal mesh, only to a hernia repair. I suffer from immobility now due to mesh complications and constant pain. I have lost my independence, my social and family life. I cannot enjoy my grandchildren, holidays or retirement. This is all due to mesh inserted by doctors who were taking money from the manufacturers without it being properly tested!

Mesh needs to be suspended from use immediately. There was a previous petition which was not listened to and it needs to be!

I trusted my colleagues when mesh was inserted, little did I realise how uninformed I was by them!
