  • Date lodged: Monday, 05 February 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12051

That the Parliament recognises New College Lanarkshire, in partnership with Skyrora, for launching a competition for young people in North Lanarkshire, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their technical and creative skills; understands that the contest will mark the 10th anniversary of the college by seeking young people’s ideas, creativity and commitment to sustainability; notes that pupils in S1 to S3 across North Lanarkshire will be asked to develop a solution to a climate-based problem in Lanarkshire, or create a piece of art that brings attention to a neglected aspect of the climate crisis; understands that the competition will have two categories, STEM and the arts, and that the winners will be awarded £500 and the opportunity to visit Skyrora’s premises; recognises what it sees as New College Lanarkshire’s efforts to engage young people in tackling the climate crisis; commends its ongoing efforts to strengthen its partnerships with schools and businesses, and wishes all involved all the best for the future.
