Doonfoot Primary Teacher, Jenn McEwan, Awarded Top Prize by the ERA Foundation

That the Parliament congratulates Doonfoot Primary School teacher, Jenn McEwan, on being awarded the Primary School David Clark Prize by the Electrical Research Association (ERA) Foundation; notes that the ERA Foundation’s Clark Prize recognises the important role those involved in education play, and celebrates teachers that encourage young people to consider engineering as a profession and career; acknowledges that Jenn is also the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) lead at South Ayrshire Council, which sees her work with a number of schools and collaborate with the University of Strathclyde; understands that Jenn was recognised for her work at Doonfoot Primary over the last 12 years; further understands that she was also awarded £12,000, to be used over a period of three years, for the school towards further STEM opportunities; considers the benefit that this will have for the pupils, and commends Jenn for her sterling work.
