That the Parliament congratulates Eddie Brown from Orkney, sous chef at The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle for winning the 2022 Andrew Fairlie Scholarship; understands that the scholarship recognises an outstanding individual who is forging ahead with their culinary career and working or studying in Scotland; notes that the award is granted by the Andrew Fairlie Scholarship, which is run by the charity, Hospitality Industry Trust, and judged by Stephen McLaughlin, head chef at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, Russell Plowman, senior sous chef at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, Gary MacLean, National Chef of Scotland and MasterChef: The Professionals winner, and Tom Kerridge, Michelin-starred Chef; recognises what it sees as the significant and lasting contribution to the hospitality industry of Andrew Fairlie, who was dedicated to adding to the pool of outstanding and talented chefs based in Scotland by providing them with a meaningful, high-quality opportunity to develop their skills and experience; understands that the winner will gain industry-wide recognition as an Andrew Fairlie Scholar and experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, including a practical stage in the Michelin-starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, and at Core by Clare Smyth in London, and wishes Eddie Brown continued success in his future career.
