That the Parliament congratulates Jasmin Milne, a pupil at Grangemouth High School, on being named the inaugural Falkirk Young Musician of the Year at the Annual Falkirk Schools Concert at Falkirk Town Hall on 29 March 2022; understands that Jasmin performed, If I Ain’t Got You in front of three adjudicators, Mae Murray of Music Education Partnership Group, Matthew Chinn of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Hughina Naylor of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, who had the difficult job of deciding between three hugely talented young musicians; understands that the top three musicians also included Esther Kallow of Larbert High School on the Oboe and Bobby Maxwell of Graeme High School on the Alto-Saxophone; further understands that Jasmin will now go on to the national Scottish Young Musicians Solo Performer of the Year final at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to be held on 29 May 2022; praises what it sees as the huge musical talent in Falkirk district, which is supported by Youth Music Initiative, Falkirk Traditional Music Project, and instrumental music tuition in schools across the area; commends the efforts of staff and volunteers in music projects across the country; considers that it is important for health and wellbeing to have opportunities available for all children and young people to learn to play a musical instrument from an early age; celebrates the return of live music after a difficult few years caused by the COVID-19 pandemic; congratulates Jasmin on becoming Falkirk Young Musician of the Year for 2022, and wishes her every success for the final in May 2022.
