  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 25 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02893

That the Parliament congratulates Aine Finlayson on being elected President of Scottish Engineering by the organisation’s executive board members; further congratulates Bernie O’Neil, who is assuming the position of vice-president for the industry body, which represents engineering and manufacturing companies across the country; notes that Aine is the first woman to lead Scottish Engineering in its 150-year history; commends her on what it sees as her commitment to act as a role model to encourage more diversity across the engineering industry; believes that Aine and Bernie will inspire other women and girls to pursue STEM subjects and careers, where women continue to be under-represented, and wishes them every success in their roles.
