McCaskie’s Success at Craft Butcher Awards

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 20 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02848

That the Parliament welcomes that Scotland’s Black Pudding Championship crown has returned to Wemyss Bay after judges declared McCaskie’s product the best in Scotland; understands that the popular, multi-award winning family butcher lifted the honours in the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards 2022 for the first time in 18 years, having first claimed the championship in 2004; recognises that McCaskie’s was runner-up in 2012 and West of Scotland regional champion in 2014 and 2016; understands that McCaskie’s has worked hard to perfect the recipe in order to win back the crown and that owner, Nigel Ovens, and his trusted butcher colleague, Billy McFadden, are the only two people who know the secret recipe; commends McCaskie’s for what it sees as its commitment to providing high-quality products, and wishes the firm all the best for the future.
