  • Submitted by: Finlay Carson, Galloway and West Dumfries, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 13 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02778

That the Parliament warmly congratulates Queen of the South Community Trust and Queen of the South Football Club in being awarded funding from the Together For Our Planet project, which is run by the National Lottery Community Fund; understands that the funding was awarded for establishing an innovative food supermarket initiative at Palmerston Park, Dumfries, which is believed to be the first of its kind in Scotland; further understands that two shipping containers, branded in club colours, will be transformed into a shop providing goods for sale, while also acting as a foodbank; believes that this project will help to remove the stigma faced by some people when using foodbanks; wishes the charity arm of The Doonhamers every success in the future, and acknowledges the important role that the organisation is playing in helping many sectors within the local community.
