Iona Fyfe Named Musician of the Year at 2021 Trad Music Awards

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow Kelvin resident, Iona Fyfe, on being named the Musician of the Year at the 2021 Trad Music Awards; notes that the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards announced the winners live on BBC ALBA, and in front of a live studio audience, on 4 December 2021; understands that a record 180,000 public votes were cast across the different categories; notes that the Musician of the Year category was sponsored by the University of the Highlands and Islands; commends the work of the organising body, Hands Up for Trad, which is funded by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland and was formed in 2002 to increase the profile and visibility of Scottish traditional music through information, advocacy and education for artists, participants and audiences, and wishes Iona Fyfe every continued success in performing and promoting what it views as a vital representation of Scottish culture.
