  • Submitted by: Claire Baker, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 08 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01990

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for the Fife Alcohol Support Service (FASS) Curnie Clubs; recognises that the clubs, which began in 2015 and run across Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Methil, Leven, Cupar and Cowdenbeath, provide support to help lonely and isolated adults back into communities; notes that loneliness and isolation are recognised as major public health issues across Scotland, and have impacted across all age groups through the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the funding, which was sought to meet need following lockdown, will secure the Curnie Clubs in Fife for another three years; praises the work of FASS in providing a range of services to meet the needs of vulnerable people within the Fife community, including treatment and support for those affected by substance misuse and for adults who are socially isolated and vulnerable; considers the support provided by FASS and Curnie Clubs to be invaluable to many across Fife, and wishes them well with their continuing good work.
