Simeon Care for the Elderly's Trishaw Launch

  • Submitted by: Audrey Nicoll, Aberdeen South and North Kincardine, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 04 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01905

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of Simeon Care for the Elderly's trishaw service, based at Simeon House, Cairnlee Road, Aberdeen; understands that the trishaw is a battery-powered bicycle attached to a cabin, which includes modifications for ease of access and a blanket compartment for use on colder days; notes that Simeon House is a home to 23 older residents with varying needs, and that the trishaw provides opportunities to provide the residents with stimulating, outdoor experiences; understands that the trishaw, costing £7,500, was delivered from Copenhagen, and funding was made possible through the Scottish Government's Adapt and Thrive programme; commends the management and staff at Simeon House for thinking "outside the box" on providing new experiences for the residents, and wishes continued success for everyone at the care home.
