  • Submitted by: Finlay Carson, Galloway and West Dumfries, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 04 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01897

That the Parliament offers its warmest congratulations to Jas P Wilson, which it understands is one of the UK’s leading national suppliers of forestry equipment and machinery, based in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway, on winning the Rural Business accolade at the national Helping It Happen Awards, organised by Scottish Land and Estates; understands that the awards recognise the role of estates, rural businesses and community groups for their work on combatting climate change, as well as encouraging rural Scotland to continue to thrive; acknowledges what it sees as the important role played by the company, which now employs 85 staff; understands that it provides invaluable apprenticeship opportunities in engineering and administration for young people through its dedicated training centre, operated by a strong team of skilled designers, engineers, service and sales staff, and that the team has successfully broken new ground in exports, including to Scandinavian markets, thanks to support from Scottish Enterprise, and wishes the company success, as it continues to streamline processes, implement strategies to empower staff, and ensure a succession plan remains in place.
