The British Indian Army Memorial

That the Parliament commemorates the service and sacrifice of over four million soldiers from the British Indian Army (BIA) who fought in both world wars; recognises that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Gurkhas, and more from a range of nations, fought alongside British troops and more than 160,000 soldiers lost their lives; recognises that Scotland has a special link with the BIA through soldiers from the Force K6 regiment, from the Punjab, who escaped from Dunkirk during the Second World War and made their way to Scotland; welcomes the campaign by the charity, Colourful Heritage, to build Scotland’s first permanent memorial to the soldiers of the BIA in Glasgow, and believes this would be a fitting way to commemorate their service and sacrifice.
