  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 19 October 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01723

That the Parliament congratulates New College Lanarkshire on hosting seven digital competitions as part of the WorldSkills National Finals; notes that WorldSkills is an independent charity and partnership between employers, education and governments using international best practice to raise standards in apprenticeships and technical education so that more young people and employers succeed; understands that WorldSkills supports young people across the world via competitions-based training, assessment and benchmarking, with members’ national teams ultimately testing their ability to achieve world-class standards in the biennial "Skills Olympics"; notes that over 3,000 people registered to take part in the UK-wide competitions back in March 2021, with the finalists being projected to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals between 9 and 19 November at venues across the UK, including New College Lanarkshire, and wishes all finalists the very best of luck in the National Finals.
