  • Date lodged: Monday, 04 October 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01459

That the Parliament acknowledges that Scottish National Power of Attorney Day took place on 30 September 2021; notes that family, friends, or a partner have no automatic legal right to direct a person’s welfare, or step in to oversee their financial or welfare affairs, without a Power of Attorney in place; understands that the Scottish National Power of Attorney Campaign is encouraging people of all ages to proactively have a Power of Attorney registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (Scotland); recognises that over 30,000 fewer Power of Attorney applications were received in 2020-21 compared to the previous year, and encourages people to discuss the Power of Attorney with their loves ones.
