  • Submitted by: Meghan Gallacher, Central Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 17 August 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00887

That the Parliament congratulates the Lanarkshire representatives of the Young People’s Sport Panel, Mya Thompson, from Uddingston, and Ben Fitzpatrick, from Hamilton; understands that Mya and Ben have been championing the Feel Your Personal Best campaign, backed by Sir Chris Hoy, which encourages communities to stay active in an effort to boost their mental health; considers that staying physically active can help address stress and anxiety, which more people are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the campaign research found that 81% of people said that being more active positively impacted their wellbeing by helping them to get outside more, more than half said it helped them to relax or switch off, and over a third found that it made them feel less anxious, and wishes Mya and Ben the very best of luck in promoting the campaign.
