Kilwinning Woman's Meaningful Contribution in Her Community

  • Submitted by: Ruth Maguire, Cunninghame South, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 21 July 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00733

That the Parliament congratulates Kilwinning’s Jenny Trot on being given the opportunity to host a stall in the department store, John Lewis, in Glasgow for a week in August 2021 for her candle business, Mecoco; understands that Jenny set up Mecoco after realising that there were not many job opportunities for disabled people in Ayrshire; further understands that Mecoco stands for Meaningful Contribution in your Community, and that it provides an opportunity for disabled and non-disabled young people to work making the candles to sell; acknowledges that the enterprise is celebrating two years in business, and has a base in Dalry where customers can go along and see the team at work; congratulates Jenny on her inspirational business idea, and wishes her and the team every success in August at John Lewis.
