That the Parliament congratulates the charity, Sistema Scotland, on its new Big Noise programme, which will begin in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh, in spring 2022; notes that Big Noise is a high-quality music education and social change programme, which uses the symphony orchestra as a community through which children gain an invaluable range of life skills and experiences, such as confidence, teamwork and resilience; recognises the long-term benefits of taking part in the Big Noise programme, which is particularly focused on early years interventions and evolves into after-school and holiday club music teaching and social interaction; supports the transformative role that music can play into young people’s lives, and highlights the independent evaluation of the Big Noise model by the Glasgow Centre for Population Health, which it understands showed that taking part in Big Noise helps children to improve their concentration and language skills, enhance their problem solving and decision making, increase their self-esteem and develop strong friendships and support networks.
