Angus County Press Launch

  • Submitted by: Tess White, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00180

That the Parliament congratulates the new weekly Angus County Press newspaper title on its successful launch on 27 May 2021; understands that the title continues a proud tradition of Angus newspapers, dating back to the early 19th century under the mastheads of the Montrose Review; Arbroath Herald; Forfar Dispatch; Kirriemuir Herald; Brechin Advertiser; Broughty Ferry Guide, Carnoustie Gazette and Monifieth Advertiser; recognises that these papers launched the careers of dozens of distinguished journalists including Harry Smith, Miss Margaret Brodie, Arthur Binnie, Hugh MacDiarmid and David Kerr Cameron; believes that local newspapers are one of the cornerstones of communities, and wishes the Angus County Press team and publisher JPIMedia the best for the future.
