  • Submitted by: Donald Cameron, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00168

That the Parliament congratulates the efforts of staff at Tesco’s Stornoway store on raising £150 for the charity, Befriending Lewis and Harris; understands that the Tesco colleagues have been holding a dress-down day every four weeks and donate to a charity local to them; recognises the work that Befriending Lewis and Harris does, including providing supportive, reliable relationships through volunteer befrienders, to people aged 18 and over who would otherwise be socially isolated; acknowledges the benefit of such a service, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when many vulnerable people are at increased risk of isolation, and wishes the Tesco Stornoway staff well with future fundraising drives.
