UN Global Road Safety Week 2021

That the Parliament welcomes UN Global Road Safety Week 2021, which runs from 17 to 23 May; acknowledges that lower speed limits lead to a reduction in accidents, casualties and lowers harmful emissions; notes that the UN recommends 30km/h (20mph) as the default speed limit in residential areas as an essential way to reduce emissions, accidents and casualties, and create liveable roads for all where people live, work and play, and congratulates the communities across Scotland working to lower speed limits and save lives.
