Place2Be - Providing In-School Support and Expert Training to Improve Emotional Wellbeing

  • Submitted by: Sarah Boyack, Lothian, Scottish Labour.

  • Motion reference: S5M-24302

That the Parliament notes the work of Place2Be, a leading children's mental health charity, providing in-school support and expert training to improve the emotional wellbeing of pupils, families, teachers and school staff with reach across Scotland, England and Wales; notes its distinctive "whole school" approach to supporting children’s mental health, which is focused on building capacity throughout the school, intervening early and providing a flexible menu of services that supports both pupils and all of the adults around the child, including families, teachers and school leaders; celebrates that over the last three years, in the schools Place2Be works in, 73% of the children with severe mental health difficulties had improved mental health as a result of one-to-one counselling, and 60% of children's difficulties had less of an impact on their teacher or class, and hopes that Place2Be can continue its innovative work supporting young people in the future.
