Keenan Recycling Wins Sustainability Award

That the Parliament congratulates Keenan Recycling, which is based in New Deer, on winning the Sustainability Award at the prestigious British Renewable Energy Awards; understands that Keenan Recycling is the largest commercial food waste collection business in the UK, processing more than 100,000 tonnes of food waste each year; notes that the business is focussed on developing the circular economy by reducing emissions and waste going to landfill by recycling material into biofuel and compost; acknowledges that, with support from Zero Waste Scotland, Keenan Recycling supplies liquid biofuel to anaerobic digestion plants derived from food waste to generate heat and power; considers that businesses continuing to develop the circular economy is an important part of meeting the Scottish Government’s sustainable development goals; applauds the team at Keenan Recycling on its success, and wishes them well.
