Care Home Relatives Scotland Campaign, Our Hearts are Breaking, it's Time to Let Us In

  • Submitted by: Monica Lennon, Central Scotland, Scottish Labour.

  • Motion reference: S5M-24121

That the Parliament recognises the Care Home Relatives Scotland campaign, Our Hearts are Breaking, it’s Time to Let us in; notes the concerns about the impact that prolonged care home visiting restrictions and isolation from loved ones is reported to be having on care home residents and their families; believes that essential caregivers’ visits should have been happening throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, with proper infection prevention control protocols and PPE in place; understands that there is cross-party support for emergency legislation, which is known as Anne’s Law, in honour of Anne Duke and her family in East Kilbride, and calls on the Scottish Government to reinstate visiting rights as a matter of urgency to relieve what it sees as the negative impact that isolation is having on the health and wellbeing of care home residents.
