Stirling Station Wins Rail Heritage Award 2020

That the Parliament congratulates Stirling rail station on winning the National Railway Heritage Award for Operational Enhancement for the restoration work to the platform canopies and footbridge; understands that this particular award is for "the restoration, refurbishment or other improvements to an historic station or other building or structure that incorporate operational modifications, including improvements in accessibility for mobility or other impaired customers, which respect and enhance its heritage character"; further understands that the historic lattice footbridge at Stirling station had to be raised to provide clearance for the electrified wires below; notes that the original 28-tonne heritage structure was removed and underwent significant refurbishment before being reinstalled along with a new lift to create step-free access to all platforms, and congratulates everyone involved on winning this award.
