Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank Improves Patient Care and Reduces Food Waste with New Technology

  • Submitted by: Gil Paterson, Clydebank and Milngavie, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 27 October 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23139

That the Parliament recognises the benefits of the introduction of a new innovative system that allows catering staff at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank to order inpatient meals on the same day, resulting in reductions in food waste; understands that the bedside menu ordering system allows staff to focus on delivering quality healthcare that is person-centred, and that the previous paper form service had to be done a day in advance and could take ward staff up to 90 minutes to complete; notes that breakfast food waste has been reduced by a massive 50% since the timely service has been introduced as changes in patient appetite are less likely, and thanks the staff of the Golden Jubilee for their continuous hard work.
