Help St Andrew’s First Aid Save Lives for the Future

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 12 October 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23018

That the Parliament notes the launch of St Andrew’s First Aid’s public financial appeal to raise half a million pounds to ensure that it can continue its ambition to create a nation of lifesavers; believes that, as a result of the impact of COVID-19, St Andrew’s First Aid has seen its regular sources of income all but wiped out; recognises that the organisation is Scotland’s only dedicated first aid charity, with a heritage dating back to its establishment in 1882, and supports a network of volunteers across the nation; understands that, over the last five years, the charity has trained more than 100,000 people in a wide range of essential first aid skills, delivered 181,362 hours of time through its volunteer community and attended 11,000 events across the length and breadth of Scotland, and wishes St Andrew’s First Aid every success in its public campaign to raise much-needed funds so that it can continue to provide lifesaving services for generations to come.
