That the Parliament congratulates Allan Houston on winning Champion of the Year at 2020’s ALLIANCE Self Management Awards; celebrates the work that Allan has done promoting self management and mindfulness as an approach to recovery from problem substance abuse; recognises the contribution that Allan’s mindfulness group has made supporting hundreds of people each year, guiding them through their treatment and recovery plans, and appreciates the vital role of the voice of lived experience in promoting self management, with Allan’s group placing an emphasis on the integration of new people into the recovery community so that they can be best supported by those around them who have their own experiences of problem substance use.
