Stonehaven Open Air Pool

  • Submitted by: Liam Kerr, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 30 June 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22191

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Stonehaven Open Air Pool has been named one of Britain’s Top 10 Outdoor Pools in a survey by Parkdean Resorts; understands that the Olympic-size pool has been a tourist attraction in the town since the 1930s due to its distinctive art deco design and heated filtered seawater; recognises the work of the community group, the Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool, which raises funds for the pool, as well as publicising it extensively throughout the local area and nationally, and which works in close partnership with the owners, Aberdeenshire Council, to maintain and enhance this amazing attraction; appreciates that the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that the pool will be closed for 2020, enabling further refurbishments to take place, and hopes that the pool will continue to be a focal point for the local community in the years to come.
