Menstrie Primary School Collects for Sal's Shoes

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 04 July 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-18089

That the Parliament welcomes the news that pupils at Menstrie Primary School signed off the academic year with an act of goodwill at the end of term; understands that pupils brought in more than 200 pairs of shoes that no longer fitted them so that they could be redistributed to children around the world who do not have any; believes that, each year, schools across the UK redistribute worn and outgrown shoes to such children as part of the Toe to Toe campaign, which is organised by the charity, Sal’s Shoes; acknowledges that Menstrie Afterschool Club provided the boxes that the shoes will be shipped in, and that Alloa Tool Hire supported their shipping to the Sal’s Shoes distribution centre in Surrey, and commends the pupils for their very kind gesture and everyone else involved for their extremely magnanimous work.
