  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.

  • Motion reference: S5M-16779

That the Parliament congratulates Louisa Bradford and Rupert Holden, from Kincardine Castle Kitchen, on producing the world’s best marmalade for the third year in a row; recognises that the Dalemain World’s Original Marmalade Awards are the most prestigious awards of their kind and that Kincardine Castle Kitchen won against competition from across the globe; commends both chefs for their authenticity in producing their marmalade by chopping and squeezing all the fruit by hand and cooking it in the traditional open-pan style, before selling it at local farmers' markets in Aberdeenshire; acknowledges that the awards began in 2005 with the aim of preserving, growing and widening the tradition of making marmalade, and wishes Kincardine Castle Kitchen continued success with its business and contribution to the Scottish pantry.
