  • Submitted by: Finlay Carson, Galloway and West Dumfries, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 20 February 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-15913

That the Parliament congratulates academics and PhD students from the University of West of Scotland on educating pupils across Dumfries and Galloway on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); understands that the Dumfries and Galloway region has a significantly high level of people with the condition; welcomes the BREATH (Border and Regions Airways Training Hub) project, which is involving partners in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland; acknowledges that over 1,700 children have so far been involved in the educational drive, with a number accepting "the BREATH challenge"; hopes that this engagement will help to develop a greater understanding of COPD among young people, and encourages everyone to find out more about COPD.
