  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 January 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-15632

That the Parliament commends the volunteers, John Blair, who is from Gourock, and Sadie Martin, who is from Greenock, on deservedly being honoured with awards in recognition of their long service to Ardgowan Hospice; understands that John, who is 79, has volunteered with the hospice for the past 25 years, and that Sadie, who is 67. has helped at its shop since 1989; notes that they were honoured by friends and colleagues at a special celebration event in  Inverclyde; believes that their service demonstrates the significant difference that volunteers make and the impact that they have on service users and their families; thanks John and Sadie on their kind-hearted dedication, and hopes that they inspire others to give some of their time to help the charity and voluntary sectors.
