Caithness Renewable Energy Link

  • Submitted by: Gail Ross, Caithness, Sutherland and Ross, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 14 January 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-15378

That the Parliament welcomes the completion of the new subsea electric link between Caithness and Moray; notes that the £1 billion project will enable renewable energy generated in the far north to be transferred to densely-populated areas in central Scotland; commends the engineers who have completed the installation of this 100 mile-long cable, which can carry enough electricity to power three million homes, and welcomes the opportunities that it believes the link presents to Caithness and the far north to undertake further renewable energy projects.
