That the Parliament warmly welcomes the news that Scotland’s national dance company, Scottish Ballet, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2019; notes that the company, which was originally known as Scottish Theatre Ballet, was founded by the choreographer, Peter Darrell, who brought Scotland its own resident company in 1969; looks forward to the year of celebrations, which will include three world premieres, Dextera, The Crucible, and The Snow Queen, a return of its digital season in May, which will see a month-long programme of work, including short films, live streams, virtual reality experiences and digitally-driven projects, and the announcement of the winners of the company's Five Wishes competition, which has seen a celebrity jury chose five winning wishes from a shortlist of 50 submitted by people from across the country; welcomes its regular performances all over Scotland, throughout the rest of the UK and internationally; recognises that it aims to nurture and inspire the talent of tomorrow through its support of dancers, choreographers and artists; acknowledges its engagement programme, including the Dance Health programme; congratulates everyone who has played a part in Scottish Ballet’s success for the last 50 years, and wishes the company all the best with its work.
