Braemar Community Castle

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 25 October 2018
  • Motion reference: S5M-14474

That the Parliament thanks the Heritage Lottery Fund on awarding £100,000 toward the development of Braemar Community Castle; acknowledges that this is the first round of funding, with potentially £480,000 being invested in the next phase; believes that this grant will help to restore the castle's A-listed tower, which dates back to 1628, and develop it into a five-star visitor attraction with focus on accessibility and making it a great place to engage, inspire and involve more people from the area with their community and heritage, and wishes all involved with this project every success.
