Elma Murray Standing Down as Chief Executive of North Ayrshire Council

That the Parliament places on record its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Elma Murray on what it sees as her outstanding contribution as the chief executive of North Ayrshire Council over the last nine years; recognises that Elma has dedicated 35 years of her life to public service, starting at Glasgow City Council and Strathclyde Police, before joining North Ayrshire Council as head of IT services in 1995; notes that she subsequently served as head of organisational change, depute director of finance and head of e-government at Glasgow City Council before her return to North Ayrshire Council in 2009; appreciates that Elma served as chair of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives in 2012-13 and that, under her tenure, North Ayrshire was named APSE’s UK Council of the Year in September 2017; acknowledges that she was appointed an OBE in the 2018 New Year’s honours in recognition of her services to local government, education and the economy, and wishes Elma the very best for the future.
