That the Parliament congratulates Vattenfall on the successful installation of the 11th, and final, turbine at the Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm, which is also known as the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre; understands that each turbine has a capacity in excess of 8MW and that the farm, which will have the capacity to generate in excess of 90MW, will produce the equivalent of 70% of Aberdeen’s domestic electricity demand and displace over 130,000 tonnes each year of carbon dioxide; recognises that the installation of the final turbine comes just nine weeks after the first foundation was put in place; applauds the project team and contractors on reaching this milestone in such a short timescale; welcomes the news that the farm is scheduled to generate its first power in summer 2018, and wishes the project, and all involved with it, well.
