Skapade Studios, Award Winners Two Years in a Row

That the Parliament congratulates Skapade Studios, based in Dumbarton, on picking up the Community Impact Award at the Working4Business Awards on 27 April 2018 for the second year in a row; understands that it is a pioneering organisation business delivering music production programmes in the community and has received the award for its innovative work; notes that Skapade Studios was founded by Stephen Kirkwood, and that the state-of-the-art independent studio and has grown to work with many of the area’s schools and education departments to teach children about music production in various styles of electronic music; further notes that, since being founded three years ago, it has grown in size to a team that now includes two full-time and five part-time employees; understands that it was recently involved with the filming of a BBC documentary mini-series, as it helped the budding DJ, Christopher Knowles, who has Down’s syndrome, to prepare for his first gig in front of a home crowd in Oban; wishes Skapade Studios all the best, and firmly believes that it will continue to grow and do great work in the community.
