That the Parliament notes that Soapworks Ltd, based in Easterhouse, Glasgow, has been acquired by the DAABON Group; understands that DAABON, which was founded in 1914 and employs over 2,000 people, is a family-owned and managed company headquartered in Santa Marta, Colombia, and is recognised as a pioneer of organic agriculture worldwide, with operations extending to the organic production of palm oil, bananas, cacao and avocados; acknowledges that the Soapworks Ltd plant on the Queenslie industrial estate next to Easterhouse was created by Dame Anita Roddick of The Body Shop as a practical expression of her vision to “enrich not exploit” people and the planet by investing in the local community; understands that this move will enable the two companies to realise their complementary synergies and shared values, ensuring Soapworks can diversify its product range and expand internationally while retaining its current employees and management team, providing longevity for the business, and believes that it will continue to supply customers with top quality products for many years to come, while maintaining the values of Dame Anita Roddick that have been in place for 30 years.
