Start Up with WES

  • Submitted by: Christine Grahame, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 02 October 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-08059

That the Parliament congratulates the “Start Up With WES” project, which is run by Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES) at Glencorse Barracks and supports military spouses and partners in starting-up their own home-based businesses; understands that traditional employment can be difficult for them due to frequently moving bases or running the home single-handed while their partner is on tour; considers that these projects contribute not only to the military families but to the wider local economy; notes that WES is investigating rolling this out to other military bases in Scotland; congratulates all involved on its successes to date, and invites all members to a parliamentary reception to be held at 6pm on 3 October 2017 in committee room 1 where there will be further information on the project.
