Generous Tracey Reid and Gavin Milligan Raise £5,000 for Wishaw General Hospital and MacMillan Cancer Care

  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 August 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-07368

That the Parliament commends Motherwell’s Tracey Reid and her father, Gavin Milligan, who recently organised a Black and Gold ball, which raised £5,000 for Wishaw General and MacMillan Cancer Care; recognises that Tracey’s mum and Gavin’s wife, Jean Milligan, was admitted to Wishaw General Hospital and sadly passed away after a short illness but the family were so grateful for the wonderful care that Jean received from the staff there that they decided to raise some money for the hospital; notes that Tracey and Gavin then formed a committee to organise a fundraising event, which was held at South Dalziel Studios in Motherwell, raising a tremendous amount in such a short period of time; understands that the event was so successful that the family intend to have another event at the same venue next year; applauds the family for their positivity and community spirit during what would have been an extremely difficult time, and wishes them every success with the event next year.
