CEO Pay

That the Parliament notes figures collated by The Herald detailing the salaries of the highest earning CEOs in Scotland; understands that, on average, the highest paid executives are being paid 24 times that of the average Scottish worker; further understands that, in the case of the RBS chief executive, Ross McEwan, the remuneration is equivalent to that of 152 average workers; considers that the reported 72% increase received by the chief executive of SSE to be illustrative of a system described by Pat Rafferty of the Unite union as a "monument to greed" and highlights the worst of modern capitalism, and believes that this also highlights the deepening inequality in society between the highest earners and everyone else, that plans for the naming and shaming of firms where shareholders have rebelled over executive salaries and bonuses is not enough, and that workers on the lowest salaries within companies must receive better pay and conditions to reduce the grinding inequality highlighted by these figures.
