That the Parliament congratulates Wishaw General Hospital on the launch of its "theatre buddy" initiative; understands that this scheme will enable relatives and carers to accompany people with dementia to the operating theatre and stay with them until they have had their anaesthetic and gone to sleep; understands that this is the first hospital in Scotland to launch this initiative; notes that a new theatre buddy trolley has also been introduced, which contains items that will help keep patients calm, including stress balls and an iPod with familiar songs if required; congratulates Wishaw General on its commitment to providing patients with dementia a calming environment in what can be a traumatic time for them, and wishes the hospital well in the future.
