Care Award for Brian Stretton

  • Submitted by: Dean Lockhart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 12 April 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-05142

That the Parliament congratulates Brian Stretton, who is from Braehead in Stirling, on being awarded an I Care award; understands that Brian, who is a support worker for Carewatch Forth, won this despite facing competition from over 5,000 others; believes that the judges were drawn to his support over the course of several months for a 17-year-old boy who had acute behavioural issues and poor personal care, and who lacked social interaction; understands that, thanks to Brian's superb care provision, the young man is now a confident and happier person and has now moved out of the family home to lead a more independent lifestyle, and thanks Brian and everyone involved in the care sector in Scotland for providing excellent person-centred care.
